2020. Waimea, Oahu.

Waimea is famous for its big waves, and on our first visit it delivered.

An eight foot shore break thundered onto the beach. Lifeguards warned everyone to move back away from the water. And locals grabbed boogie boards and fins.

Time yet? Watching the shore break build.
Set after set after set of monsters.

The next day we returned to placid water and rainbows.

What a difference a day makes. Waimea on a less energetic morning.

It seems like no matter how many times you visit a place it always has a different part of itself to show.

Elsewhere on the north shore an endangered Hawaiian monk seal does his best tourist impression, despite being a local for a thousand years. Only 400 monk seals live on the main Hawaiian islands, and we were blessed to see two.
