We admit it: There was a little apprehension about toting two kids half way around the world on a fourteen hour non stop flight.
Until we boarded our Korean Air flight at JFK, where we were greeted with toiletry bags (toothpaste, toothbrush, slippers, blankets, pillows), gift bags for the kids, and helped into our seats by some of the most snazzily dressed attendants ever seen. Let me just say, their scarves remained perfect and perkily tied throughout the flight.
We watched as they hauled out a crib for a crying baby, brought juice around every hour or so, offered hot towels to tired people, and generally made everyone feel like it was the 1950’s again – but only in the good way.
The meals were actual hot food served on actual plates – the wine, which flowed freely, was served in actual glasses.
This was economy, folks. I’m not saying the seats were comfortable and I won’t deny that there was a baby who cried for ten straight hours. Ten. Straight. Hours. But I am saying that it was all pretty darn manageable and made pleasant by the fact that this airline seems to be able to treat flying like the incredible treat that it is. ~ Jenny
